Make perfectly crunchy chickpeas in your air fryer seasoned with garlic and herbs for a satisfying snack or salad topping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (15-ounce) can chickpeas, rinsed and drained
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (195°C).
  2. Thoroughly dry the rinsed chickpeas. Pat them completely dry using paper towels or a clean kitchen cloth. This step is key for crispiness.
  3. In a medium bowl, toss the dried chickpeas with olive oil until lightly coated.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together the garlic powder, oregano, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  5. Add the seasoning mix to the oiled chickpeas and toss until evenly coated.
  6. Place the seasoned chickpeas in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd the basket; cook in batches if necessary.
  7. Air fry for 12 to 15 minutes, shaking the basket vigorously halfway through (around the 7-minute mark).
  8. Continue cooking until the chickpeas are golden brown and crunchy.
  9. Remove from the air fryer and let them cool slightly before serving. They will crisp up more as they cool.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, you can cook them for an additional 2-3 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.
  • Store cooled, leftover chickpeas in a loosely covered container at room temperature for up to 3 days. Do not seal tightly, as this traps moisture and reduces crispness.
  • Add 1/4 teaspoon of onion powder or smoked paprika with the herbs for flavor variation.
