Create spooky and delicious Witch Finger Almond Cookies for your Halloween party. These fun cookies are easy to make and perfect for themed treats.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • Green food coloring
  • Sliced almonds
  • Red decorating gel

Instructions

  1. Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in the egg and almond extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking powder.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Add green food coloring, a few drops at a time, until you achieve your desired witch finger color.
  6. Shape the dough into finger-like shapes.
  7. Press a sliced almond onto one end of each cookie for the fingernail.
  8. Use a knife to gently create knuckle lines on the fingers.
  9. Place cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  10. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  11. Let the cookies cool completely on the baking sheet.
  12. Once cool, use red decorating gel to draw lines at the knuckle joints and a bit around the almond fingernail for a more realistic look.

Notes

  • Ensure your butter is truly softened for the best cookie texture.
  • Don’t overmix the dough after adding the flour to prevent tough cookies.
  • Adjust the amount of food coloring to get the perfect witchy hue.
  • You can chill the dough for 30 minutes before shaping if it’s too soft to handle.
  • Red decorating gel adds a great touch, but you can also use melted red candy melts.
