This is the Ultimate Creamy Shrimp and Crab Seafood Lasagna, featuring a rich Béchamel sauce. You will create a comforting, restaurant-quality dish perfect for impressing guests or celebrating a special night. Jacob made this recipe perfect by balancing the creamy texture with fresh seafood flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound lasagna noodles
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 pound lump crab meat, picked over
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups whole milk, warmed
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Salt and white pepper to taste
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for topping
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add shrimp and cook until pink, about 2-3 minutes per side. If using wine, deglaze the pan, scraping up browned bits. Remove shrimp and set aside. Gently fold the crab meat into the shrimp.
  3. Prepare the Béchamel sauce: Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in the warm milk until the sauce thickens, about 8-10 minutes. Stir in nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat.
  4. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, 1/2 cup Parmesan, and parsley until combined.
  5. To assemble, spread a thin layer of Béchamel sauce on the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  6. Arrange a single layer of noodles over the sauce. Top with half of the ricotta mixture, half of the shrimp and crab, one-third of the mozzarella, and one-third of the Gruyère. Drizzle with about 1 cup of Béchamel.
  7. Repeat the layering process: noodles, remaining ricotta, remaining seafood, another third of the mozzarella and Gruyère, and another cup of Béchamel.
  8. Finish with a final layer of noodles, the remaining Béchamel sauce, and the remaining mozzarella and Gruyère. Sprinkle with extra Parmesan.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until bubbly and the cheese is golden brown. Let the lasagna rest for 15 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Jacob suggests using fresh seafood for the best flavor profile.
  • If you prefer a quicker prep, you can use high-quality jarred Alfredo sauce instead of making the Béchamel from scratch.
  • This dish is excellent when made a day ahead and reheated.
