This is the ultimate Creamy & Healthy Meal Prep Tuna Pasta Salad. It is a crowd-pleasing, flavorful dish perfect for quick lunches, picnics, or easy weeknight dinners. We planned this recipe to be simple yet satisfying.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound pasta (rotini or shells)
  • 2 cans (5 ounces each) tuna in water, drained
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt (plain, nonfat)
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise (light or regular)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped celery
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain well and rinse with cold water to cool it down quickly. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the Greek yogurt, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, and garlic powder until smooth. This creates your creamy base.
  3. Flake the drained tuna into the yogurt mixture. Gently fold to combine.
  4. Add the chopped celery, red onion, and pickle relish to the bowl. Mix everything until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Add the cooled pasta to the salad. Toss gently until the pasta is evenly coated with the dressing.
  6. Season generously with salt and black pepper. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed.
  7. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving. This allows the flavors to meld.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, substitute all the mayonnaise with Greek yogurt.
  • You can add 1/2 cup of frozen peas during the last minute of pasta cooking; drain with the pasta.
  • This salad tastes even better the next day, making it ideal for meal prepping.
  • If you prefer crunch, add toasted slivered almonds just before serving.
