Ingredients
Scale
2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 cup your favorite BBQ sauce
1/4 cup water or chicken broth
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of your slow cooker.
In a small bowl, whisk together the BBQ sauce, water or broth, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
Pour the sauce mixture evenly over the chicken.
Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours.
Remove the chicken from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks.
Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker and toss it with the cooking liquid until fully coated.
Serve immediately.
Notes
You can use chicken thighs instead of breasts for a richer flavor.
If the sauce seems too thin after shredding, remove the lid for the last 30 minutes of cooking on high to allow some liquid to evaporate.
Adjust the amount of BBQ sauce based on your preference for sweetness or spice.
