Ingredients
Scale
1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 pound fresh asparagus, trimmed
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 lemon, zested and juiced
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a large, rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to create the garlic butter sauce.
In a large bowl, toss the trimmed asparagus with the olive oil and half of the garlic butter sauce until evenly coated. Spread the asparagus in a single layer on one half of the prepared baking sheet.
Add the shrimp to the same bowl (no need to wash it) and toss with the remaining garlic butter sauce. Arrange the shrimp in a single layer on the other half of the baking sheet, ensuring they do not overlap the asparagus too much.
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes. Shrimp cooks quickly; it is done when it turns pink and opaque. Asparagus should be tender-crisp.
Remove the pan from the oven. Squeeze the fresh lemon juice over the shrimp and asparagus and sprinkle with the lemon zest.
Serve immediately directly from the pan or transfer to plates.
Notes
For crispier shrimp, ensure the shrimp are completely dry before tossing them with the sauce. Pat them well with paper towels.
Do not overcrowd the pan; use two sheets if necessary so the ingredients roast instead of steam.
If you prefer softer asparagus, add it to the pan 5 minutes before adding the shrimp.
