This recipe provides simple steps to bake moist, flaky salmon fillets seasoned with bold Cajun spices in your oven.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 (6 ounce) salmon fillets, skin on or off
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning blend
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 lemon, sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
  2. Pat the salmon fillets dry using paper towels. This helps the seasoning adhere better.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper.
  4. Place the salmon fillets on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops and sides of each fillet evenly with olive oil.
  5. Sprinkle the spice mixture generously over the top of each salmon fillet, pressing lightly so the seasoning sticks.
  6. Place two or three thin lemon slices on top of each seasoned fillet.
  7. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, depending on the thickness of your fillets, until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
  8. Remove from the oven and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra moisture, you can place the seasoned salmon on a bed of thinly sliced onions or bell peppers on the baking sheet.
  • If you prefer a crispier top, briefly broil the salmon for the last 1 to 2 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.
  • Use your favorite store-bought Cajun seasoning or make your own blend for the best flavor.
