Prepare tender turkey meatballs and a rich, bright lemon garlic sauce all in a single pan for a simple weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 shallot, finely chopped
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined; do not overmix.
  3. Roll the mixture into 1-inch meatballs.
  4. Heat the olive oil in a large, oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add the meatballs and brown them on all sides, about 5 minutes. Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set them aside.
  5. Add the chopped shallot to the same skillet and cook until softened, about 2 minutes.
  6. Pour in the chicken broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Bring the broth to a simmer.
  7. Stir in the heavy cream, lemon juice, and lemon zest. Let the sauce cook for 2 minutes until it thickens slightly.
  8. Return the browned meatballs to the skillet, nestling them into the sauce.
  9. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 15 to 18 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through.
  10. Remove from the oven, sprinkle with fresh parsley, and serve directly from the pan.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese to the sauce before baking.
  • Serve these meatballs over pasta, rice, or alongside roasted asparagus.
  • If you do not have an oven-safe skillet, transfer the browned meatballs and sauce to a baking dish before putting it in the oven.
