Follow these steps to make a rich, flavorful iced cherry vanilla cold brew concentrate and assemble your perfect cold drink at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup coarse ground coffee beans (medium-dark roast recommended)
  • 4 cups cold filtered water
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water (for syrup)
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup cherry juice concentrate or strong cherry syrup
  • Ice cubes
  • 1/2 cup milk or cream (dairy or non-dairy)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cold Brew Concentrate: Combine the coarse ground coffee and 4 cups of cold water in a large jar or French press. Stir gently to saturate the grounds.
  2. Cover the mixture and let it steep at room temperature or in the refrigerator for 12 to 18 hours.
  3. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve lined with cheesecloth or a paper filter into a clean container. This is your cold brew concentrate. Discard the grounds.
  4. Make the Cherry Vanilla Syrup: Combine the sugar and 1/2 cup of water in a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely. Do not boil.
  5. Remove the simple syrup from the heat. Stir in the vanilla extract and cherry juice concentrate until fully mixed. Let the syrup cool completely.
  6. Assemble the Drink: Fill a tall glass with ice cubes.
  7. Pour 1/2 cup of the cold brew concentrate over the ice.
  8. Add 1 to 2 tablespoons of the cooled cherry vanilla syrup, adjusting to your taste preference.
  9. Top with milk or cream. Stir gently before drinking.

Notes

  • Use a coarser grind for your coffee beans to prevent over-extraction and sludge in your final concentrate.
  • Adjust the syrup amount based on the strength of your cherry concentrate and your desired sweetness level.
  • For a creamier texture, you can froth your milk slightly before pouring it over the drink.
