Ingredients
Scale
6 cups cranberry juice
2 cups orange juice, freshly squeezed
1 cup water
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
4 cinnamon sticks
1 tablespoon whole cloves
1 teaspoon whole allspice berries
1 orange, thinly sliced for garnish
Instructions
Combine the cranberry juice, orange juice, water, and brown sugar in a large saucepan.
Add the cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, and allspice berries to the liquid mixture.
Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring until the brown sugar dissolves completely. Do not boil.
Reduce the heat to low and let the punch steep for at least 20 minutes to allow the spices to infuse.
Taste the punch; add a little more sugar if you prefer it sweeter.
Remove the saucepan from the heat. Discard the whole spices or strain the punch for a clearer appearance.
Serve the punch warm in mugs. Garnish each serving with a thin slice of fresh orange.
Notes
For an extra layer of flavor, add 1 star anise pod during the simmering process. Remove before serving.
If you want a brighter citrus note, add the zest of one orange along with the spices.
You can prepare the spice mixture ahead of time using a cheesecloth sachet for easy removal.
