Ingredients
Scale
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup prepared horseradish, drained well
2 tablespoons white vinegar or lemon juice
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste
1/4 teaspoon black pepper, or to taste
Instructions
Gather all your ingredients. You need a bowl and a whisk for this quick project.
Pour the heavy cream into your mixing bowl.
Whisk the cream until soft peaks begin to form. This takes just a minute or two.
Gently fold in the drained prepared horseradish, vinegar or lemon juice, and Dijon mustard.
Season the mixture with salt and pepper.
Taste the sauce. Add more salt or horseradish if you want a stronger flavor.
Cover the sauce and chill for at least 30 minutes before serving with prime rib.
Notes
Drain the prepared horseradish thoroughly to prevent a watery sauce. You can press it between paper towels.
You can prepare this sauce up to 2 days ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator.
For a thinner sauce, add a splash more vinegar or a teaspoon of milk.
This sauce is also excellent on roast beef sandwiches or as a topping for steak.
