Ingredients
Scale
1 pound ground turkey
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 small onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
4 cups chicken broth
8 ounces dry pasta (like penne or rotini)
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 cups fresh spinach, roughly chopped
Instructions
Heat olive oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add ground turkey and cook, breaking it up, until browned. Drain any excess fat.
Add onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 3 minutes. Stir in garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
Pour in diced tomatoes (with their liquid) and chicken broth. Bring the mixture to a boil.
Add the dry pasta to the boiling liquid. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 12-15 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking, until the pasta is cooked through and most of the liquid is absorbed.
Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in heavy cream and Parmesan cheese until the sauce is creamy.
Fold in the fresh spinach until it wilts into the sauce. Serve immediately. Enjoy your finished project!
Notes
Jacob suggests tasting the sauce before adding the cream to adjust salt and pepper to your preference.
This recipe works well with other lean ground meats like chicken or beef.
For a tangier flavor, substitute half the heavy cream with softened cream cheese.
