Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 (6-ounce) salmon fillets, skin on or off
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • For the Cajun Spice Rub:
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust for heat)
  • For the Honey Butter Glaze:
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • For Serving (Optional):
  • Fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil for easy cleanup.
  2. Prepare the Cajun Spice Rub: In a small bowl, combine the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, thyme, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Mix well.
  3. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Rub the olive oil lightly over all sides of the salmon.
  4. Generously sprinkle the Cajun Spice Rub mixture over the top and sides of each salmon fillet, pressing gently so the spices adhere.
  5. Prepare the Honey Butter Glaze: In another small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, honey, Dijon mustard, lemon zest, lemon juice, and minced garlic until fully combined.
  6. Place the seasoned salmon fillets on the prepared baking sheet. Brush half of the honey butter glaze evenly over the tops of the salmon fillets.
  7. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, depending on the thickness of your fillets, until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  8. Remove the salmon from the oven. Brush the remaining honey butter glaze over the hot salmon immediately. The residual heat will melt the glaze into a glossy coating.
  9. Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley if desired. This pairs well with roasted asparagus or rice pilaf for a complete dinner.

Notes

  • For a crispier top, you can briefly broil the salmon for the last 1-2 minutes after brushing with the final glaze, watching carefully to prevent burning.
  • If you prefer pan-searing, sear the salmon skin-side down in a hot, oiled skillet for 4 minutes, flip, brush with half the glaze, cook for 3 minutes, then brush with the remaining glaze and cook until done.
  • Adjust the cayenne pepper amount in the rub to control the spice level of your flavor explosion.
