2 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
1 tablespoon water
1/4 teaspoon salt
Pinch of black pepper
Instructions
Place the sliced carrots in a medium saucepan.
Add the water and salt to the saucepan.
Cover the pan and cook over medium heat for 5 to 7 minutes until the carrots are tender-crisp.
Drain any excess water from the pan.
Add the butter and maple syrup to the carrots.
Cook, stirring gently, until the butter melts and the syrup coats the carrots evenly, about 2 minutes.
Stir in the black pepper.
Serve immediately while warm and glossy.
Notes
For a slight tang, add a small squeeze of fresh lemon juice at the end.
If you prefer softer carrots, increase the initial steaming time slightly.
Use high-quality pure maple syrup for the best flavor payoff.
