You need a flavorful vegetable side dish that comes together fast? Try these oven-roasted green beans tossed with garlic, butter, and Parmesan cheese. This recipe makes bland green beans a thing of the past and is perfect for weeknight dinners or holiday tables.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. Place the trimmed green beans in a large bowl.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, melted butter, and minced garlic.
  4. Pour the butter mixture over the green beans and toss well until every bean is coated. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Spread the green beans in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Do not overcrowd the pan; use two sheets if necessary for crispier results.
  6. Roast for 10 minutes.
  7. Remove the pan from the oven and sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the beans. Gently toss them on the pan.
  8. Return the beans to the oven and roast for another 5 to 8 minutes, or until the beans are tender-crisp and the Parmesan is golden brown and slightly crispy.
  9. Serve immediately as a quick side dish.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes with the salt and pepper before roasting.
  • If you want a Southern-style twist, you can substitute bacon grease for some of the olive oil.
  • This recipe works well for meal prep; store cooled beans in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
