This is the famous baked feta pasta recipe that took the internet by storm. It is simple, requires minimal effort for maximum flavor, and uses just a few key ingredients. You will love this creamy, savory dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 block (8 ounces) feta cheese
  • 1 pint cherry or grape tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Pinch of salt (optional)
  • 12 ounces pasta (like penne or rotini)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Place the block of feta cheese in the center of a small, oven-safe baking dish.
  3. Scatter the cherry tomatoes around the feta cheese in the dish.
  4. Drizzle the olive oil over the tomatoes and feta.
  5. Sprinkle the oregano and black pepper over everything. Add a small pinch of salt if your feta is not very salty.
  6. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the tomatoes have burst and the feta is soft and slightly browned.
  7. While the feta bakes, cook the pasta according to package directions until al dente. Reserve about 1/2 cup of the pasta water before draining.
  8. Once baked, remove the dish from the oven. Add the minced garlic to the hot dish.
  9. Using a fork, mash the hot feta and burst tomatoes together, mixing thoroughly to create a creamy sauce. If the sauce seems too thick, add a splash of the reserved pasta water until you reach your desired consistency.
  10. Toss the cooked pasta directly into the baking dish with the sauce until everything is well coated.
  11. Garnish with fresh chopped basil before serving immediately.

Notes

  • Use any short pasta shape you prefer.
  • You can add red pepper flakes before baking for a little heat.
  • Taste the sauce before adding extra salt; feta is naturally quite salty.
