Make simple, crunchy cinnamon sugar pecans using your oven. This recipe yields a sweet and spiced snack perfect for holidays or topping salads.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • 1 large egg white
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk the egg white until it is slightly frothy.
  3. Add the pecans to the egg white and toss until the nuts are evenly coated.
  4. In a separate small bowl, mix the sugar, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg.
  5. Add the sugar mixture to the coated pecans and toss well until every pecan is covered with the spice mixture.
  6. Spread the coated pecans in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Do not let them overlap.
  7. Bake for 30 minutes, stirring the pecans every 10 minutes to prevent burning and promote even crisping.
  8. Remove from the oven and let the pecans cool completely on the baking sheet. They will become crispier as they cool.
  9. Break apart any clumps before storing.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the egg white before coating the nuts.
  • If you prefer a slightly saltier flavor, increase the salt to 3/4 teaspoon.
  • Store cooled pecans in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks.
