A simple recipe to bake one perfect, soft chocolate chip cookie quickly.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 small egg yolk (or 1 teaspoon milk for egg-free)
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1.5 tablespoons chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Combine the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a small bowl. Mix until smooth.
  2. Stir in the vanilla extract and the egg yolk (or milk). Mix well.
  3. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking soda.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Mix until just combined; do not overmix.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Place the dough onto a small piece of parchment paper or directly onto a small, lightly greased baking sheet. Shape it into a round cookie shape about 2 inches wide.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center looks slightly underdone.
  8. Let the cookie cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before moving it to a wire rack to finish cooling.

Notes

  • For a chewier cookie, slightly reduce the baking time.
  • If you do not have an oven, you can microwave the dough on a microwave-safe plate for 30 to 45 seconds on high power, watching closely.
  • Use a small cookie scoop or roll the dough into a ball for consistent results.
