Bake a hearty, family-friendly Spaghetti Pie. This recipe combines cooked spaghetti with a rich meat sauce and layers of cheese, baked until golden brown and perfectly sliceable. It is classic comfort food ready for your dinner table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound spaghetti
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 24 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9-inch springform pan.
  2. Cook the spaghetti according to package directions until al dente. Drain well.
  3. While the pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and onion. Cook until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in garlic, tomato sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer the sauce for 10 minutes.
  5. In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, and Parmesan cheese. Mix well.
  6. In a large bowl, toss the drained spaghetti with half of the meat sauce until fully coated.
  7. Press half of the sauced spaghetti mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared springform pan to form the base.
  8. Spread the ricotta mixture evenly over the spaghetti base.
  9. Top the ricotta layer with half of the mozzarella cheese.
  10. Layer the remaining sauced spaghetti over the mozzarella.
  11. Spoon the remaining meat sauce over the top layer of spaghetti.
  12. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
  13. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges are lightly browned.
  14. Let the pie cool in the pan for 10 minutes before releasing the springform sides and slicing.

Notes

  • You can prepare the sauce and cheese mixture ahead of time to speed up assembly.
  • For a stronger flavor, brown the beef in a splash of red wine before adding the tomato sauce.
  • Use your favorite jarred marinara sauce if you prefer to skip making the meat sauce from scratch.
  • This pie reheats well, making it excellent for leftovers.
