Ingredients
Scale
1/2 cup rolled oats
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
1 teaspoon maple syrup (or to taste)
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Pinch of ground cloves
1/4 cup finely diced apple
Instructions
Combine the rolled oats, chia seeds, milk, applesauce, maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves in a jar or container.
Stir everything well until the chia seeds and oats are fully submerged.
Fold in the finely diced apple.
Cover the container tightly and refrigerate for at least 6 hours, or preferably overnight.
In the morning, stir the mixture. If it is too thick, add a splash more milk.
Serve cold. You can top with extra cinnamon or nuts if you wish.
Notes
We use almond milk for a lighter taste, but any milk works.
For a sweeter pie flavor, increase the maple syrup slightly.
Diced apple softens overnight, providing a lovely texture.
This recipe is great for meal prepping multiple servings at once.
