Ingredients
Scale
4 large Russet potatoes
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
Wash and dry the Russet potatoes thoroughly. You must dry them well for crispness.
Cut the potatoes into uniform 1/2-inch wedges.
Soak the cut wedges in cold water for at least 30 minutes. This removes excess starch.
Drain the wedges completely and pat them very dry with paper towels. This step is crucial for a crispy result.
In a bowl, toss the dried wedges with olive oil until lightly coated.
In a separate small bowl, mix the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
Sprinkle the seasoning mix over the oiled wedges and toss to coat evenly.
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
Place the seasoned wedges in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd the basket; cook in batches if necessary.
Air fry for 15 to 20 minutes, shaking the basket vigorously every 5 minutes, until the wedges are golden brown and crisp.
Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
For extra crunch, you can lightly spray the wedges with cooking spray halfway through the cooking time.
Ensure your potatoes are Russets; they have the right starch content for fluffy interiors.
If you prefer a spicy kick, add 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper to your spice blend.
Always cook in a single layer; layering prevents air circulation and leads to soggy wedges.
