- 8 ounces halloumi cheese
- 1 tablespoon olive oil spray
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- For the Dip: 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon fresh dill, chopped
- Cut the block of halloumi cheese into thick sticks, about 3 inches long and 1/2 inch thick. Pat the sticks very dry with paper towels.
- In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch, smoked paprika, and black pepper.
- Lightly spray the halloumi sticks with olive oil spray. Toss them gently in the cornstarch mixture until lightly coated.
- Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (195°C) for 3 minutes.
- Place the coated halloumi sticks in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd the basket; cook in batches if necessary.
- Air fry for 8 to 10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through the cooking time, until the sticks are golden brown and crispy.
- While the halloumi cooks, prepare the dip: Mix the Greek yogurt, lemon juice, and chopped dill in a small bowl.
- Serve the hot, crispy halloumi fries immediately with the yogurt dip.
Notes
- Drying the halloumi thoroughly before coating helps achieve maximum crispiness.
- For extra crunch, you can lightly dust the sticks with panko breadcrumbs after the cornstarch coating.
- Adjust the air fryer temperature slightly higher, to 400°F (200°C), for the last 2 minutes if you desire deeper browning.
