Make delicious, crispy Air Fryer Churro Bites without the mess of deep frying. This recipe is easy to follow and perfect for a sweet treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • Cooking spray or oil for the air fryer
  • For Coating:
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Combine water, butter, 2 tablespoons sugar, and salt in a small saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Remove the saucepan from the heat immediately. Add all the flour at once and stir vigorously until the mixture forms a smooth ball.
  3. Let the dough cool for 5 minutes. This step is important.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy.
  5. Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
  6. Lightly spray your air fryer basket with cooking spray.
  7. Pipe small, bite-sized pieces of dough into the air fryer basket, leaving a small space between each piece. Do not overcrowd the basket; work in batches if necessary.
  8. Lightly spray the tops of the dough pieces with cooking spray.
  9. Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 8 to 10 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  10. While the churros cook, mix the 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon in a shallow dish.
  11. Remove the cooked churro bites from the air fryer. Toss them immediately in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.
  12. Serve warm and enjoy your project!

Notes

  • For best results, do not skip the cooling step for the dough before adding eggs.
  • If you do not have a piping bag, you can use two spoons to drop the dough into the air fryer, creating a less uniform shape.
  • Keep the dough pieces small so they cook evenly in the air fryer.
