- 4 medium Russet potatoes
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon coarse salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Optional Toppings: Butter, shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, cooked bacon bits
- Scrub the potatoes well under running water. Dry them completely with a paper towel. This step helps achieve crispy skin.
- Prick each potato deeply four to five times all over with a fork.
- Rub the potatoes evenly with olive oil.
- Sprinkle the coarse salt and pepper generously over the entire surface of each potato.
- Place the seasoned potatoes in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Do not overcrowd the basket.
- Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 35 to 40 minutes. Flip the potatoes halfway through the cooking time.
- Check for doneness by piercing the center with a knife or fork; it should slide in easily.
- Carefully remove the potatoes. Slice them open lengthwise and fluff the center with a fork.
- Add your favorite toppings immediately.
Notes
- Ensure potatoes are completely dry before oiling for the best crisp.
- Russet potatoes work best for fluffiness.
- If your air fryer is small, cook the potatoes in batches.
