Ingredients
Scale
4 medium Russet potatoes
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon coarse salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
Scrub the Russet potatoes well under running water. Dry them completely with a paper towel; moisture prevents crisping.
Use a fork to poke holes all over each potato, about 6 to 8 times per potato. This allows steam to escape.
In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, coarse salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
Rub the oil mixture evenly over the entire surface of each potato. Make sure the salt adheres well to the skin.
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
Place the seasoned potatoes in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Do not overcrowd the basket; work in batches if necessary.
Air fry for 30 to 35 minutes. At the halfway point (about 15 minutes), flip the potatoes over.
Check for doneness by inserting a fork or knife into the center; it should slide in easily. If not, continue cooking in 3-5 minute increments.
Remove the potatoes from the air fryer. Immediately slice them open lengthwise and gently squeeze the sides to fluff the interior.
Serve hot with your favorite toppings.
Notes
For the crispiest skin, ensure the potatoes are completely dry before oiling.
Russet potatoes work best for achieving that classic fluffy inside texture.
If you are making a large batch, consider cooking the potatoes for 15 minutes in the microwave first, then proceeding with the air fryer step for maximum speed.
